The field of Somatic Movement Therapy, which has grown exponentially over the past 40 years encompasses numerous therapeutic and expressive movement disciplines which are designed to bring greater awareness and freedom of expression to the realm of movement.
Laura trained and performed as a classical and modern dancer for many years in NY, London, and Cambridge, MA. Informed by her early studies in dance and later studies in bodywork, Hatha Yoga, Psychosynthesis/Spiritual Psychology, Continuum, Authentic Movement, and SomaSoul, Laura brings a keen body awareness and sensitivity to her approach to Somatic Movement Therapy. Using skills such as tracking the body, verbal dialogue, movement exploration, journaling, and drawing, Laura guides clients inward to access the wisdom stored in the body. Through this dynamic creative process, insight is gained into restrictive patterns as resources are developed to live a more authentic, expressive, and integrated life.
Laura has been practicing Authentic Movement since 1988 and completed SomaSoul: Somatic Expressive Therapy Training in 2004. SomaSoul, founded by dancer/therapist Daniel Leven integrates body psychotherapy, somatic movement therapy, and the expressive arts.
Laura is an ISMETA Registered Somatic Movement Therapist.
