Infant massage has been practiced in cultures all over the world for millennia. Much research and education has been done over the last 30 years on the birthing, rearing, and development of infants and children. Recent research on the impact of touch on early development has clearly shown the benefits of infant massage and helped it become more widely known.
The International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM) was founded in 1986 by Vimala McClure to promote education about infant massage and train instructors to teach infant massage to parents. In Infant Massage classes parents learn new ways to support, bond with, and express love for their babies through gentle, respectful, nurturing touch.
Laura began studying Infant Massage in 1999 and is a Certified Educator of Infant Massage through Infant Massage USA (the US chapter of IAIM). She brings extensive studies in Pre-natal and Birth Therapy to her work with babies and their caregivers. She is also studying to become a Postpartum Doula and looking forward to supporting parents and babies at home after birth.
